Bands
I’m (sort of) a musician, and have been active in the Okinawa live music scene ever since I arrived.
- This is my current band, which used to be named “Zero Sen”. We just changed the name, and the musical style a little bit as well.

Zero Sen
- I played guitar for Zero Sen for a short while before the name officially changed to “abiroji”.
There is one recording of “Air Raid” on Total Steel Okinawa 2005 under the name “Zero Sen” that I played on. All the other Zero Sen recordings are before me. (You have to navigate that site a little to find the CD.)

ushimitsudoki
- “ushimitsu” was the bomb-diggity because it was a side project where we just played the craziest music we liked and didn’t worry about anything else. I was really surprised that anyone not in the band would like us, but we were actually sort of appreciated. We had about 4 songs, I think. I remember “ichiban” (number one), “niban” (number two - yes we really called our first two songs “number one” and “number two”), “ushimitsudoki”, and “wara ninyo”. I think we did a couple of other songs one time, maybe “caterpillar” (which was super crushingly heavy, of course) and some other one? Fun times, of which I have some extremely poor recordings.
Sadly, because it was a side project for all involved we are on indefinite hiatus.
The singer (Yasu), drummer (Manabu) and myself are in abiroji.
The bass player (Kenshu) is in Dead Blood.
The other guitar player, Nana moved to Osaka. In fact, Nana was also playing guitar for Zero Sen, and since he moved to Osaka, that’s when I was asked to join Zero Sen.More about ushimitsudoki to come…
Suppon
- Suppon was a very nice thing while it lasted. We recorded a 6 or 7 song demo - Vision - , but broke up just before finsihing and releasing it, so far as I know only the members have copies, which is also kind of sad, because I think it’s pretty good hardcore-genre stuff.
The singer (Shuntaro) , drummer (Shoichi), and other guitar player (Narito) formed 2side1BRAIN.
The bass player (Daisuke) formed Beyond Da All.More about Suppon to come?
Everyday Struggle
- Everyday Struggle was a short and fun project band, very much in the “scream-o/hardcore” style. We recorded a short demo which was totally DIY.
The vocalist (Jimmy) and drummer (James) left Okinawa to go back to the States.
The bass player (Chris) is in Chuckwow. At one brief point I was in ushimitsudoki, Suppon and Everyday Struggle all at the same time. I played at least one show where all three bands played, which was…interesting.

Zero Faith
- For better or for worse, this was the band that “established” me in the Okinawa scene. We recorded one song - n(Human) - for a compliation CD, Chapter S. We just couldn’t keep it together to record more, which is sad because I thought we had some good songs (albeit a little heavy in the “nu-metal” sound).
Over the years we had over two dozen members, so I won’t try to account for all of them here, most of them I don’t know what happened to anyway.
Will (bass) went back to the states and is now with
Chris (bass) and I played together again in Everyday Struggle.More to come about Zero Faith…
Summed Out
- I only think we played one show as “Summed Out” before changing it to “Zero Faith”- it’s a stupid name. Even I knew that much back then (and I didn’t know anything back then.)
