Abiroji Recording Begins!
Well, we spent this weekend in the first recording session for the new CD. I didn’t have time to write about it during the time, because the studio didn’t have wireless internet, and I forgot my LAN cable for my laptop. Also, it was a pretty busy time, because the producer and his staff were down from Tokyo, and were only here for the two days (Saturday and Sunday) - this meant we didn’t spend much time messing about!
We did get everything recorded for two songs, and all the music (but no vocals) for a third - Yasu’s voice just couldn’t hold up for another song, which is perfectly understandable.
As is usual, I have no idea what the next step is, or even what the overall plan is; I think we are planning on recording nine songs in all, which is more than we originally had thought - five was the original plan, if I understood correctly. I also am pretty sure that we will do more recording in a different location without the Tokyo production team - although I think they may come down once or twice more, not sure about that.
Overall though, I feel good about this - we move exceedingly slow as a band; but I think the results are worth it. It’s nice to be moving to the next phase after (what seemed to me to be) a crazy-long period of preproduction.
