Spam Attack

Seems like lately there is a ton of spam trying to get on the blog. Almost every day, there’s over a hundred fake comments.

Now, it’s not really a problem for my particular blog, since I’m running Spam Karma, so all you spammers can kiss my ass, but it’s still crazy.

I wonder how different the underpinnings of the internet would be, had the problem of spam been realized from the start? Is it possible to seperate the desirable goals of resistance to censorship/control and anonymity and leaving the whole this open to spammers? Is there really anything that could be done about spam, save kicking any Microsoft operating system off the net, which is absolutely unrealistic?

    Hello Jason

I’m always worried about spam mail.
But, now spamassassin is running on my SMTP Server. it’s detect 90%.

I think Most of spammers has automatically collection-system like Google’s web-crawling robot.
they can collect our email on HTML source-code with it.

if you publish your email-address, use ascii-code.

    ex)
    normal: jason@okinet.com
*The collect system knows this is email-address.

    use ascii : jason@okinet.com
*use ascii on part of “Jason@”
*The collect system can’t detect this code on HTML, but Browser will show jason@okinet.com normally.

    Regards
    Hiro.

    About SoftEther.

Now, Softeher is the best topic in Japan.
    http://www.softether.com/us/

It’s VPN software on HTTPS. So that firewall can’t detect this packet.
It’s through your office network easily.

I hope english version come up soon.

    Hiro,

Thanks for the info. I’ve read a little about HTML-encoding email, I’ll have to check. Mostly, I’m talking about spam on this blog, though. My email is pretty well protected by SpamBayes.

    Will,

Hey man! I sent you an email a little while back - did you get it? Drop me a line, maybe I sent to the wrong address?

    Pozy,

Blog-wise: Spam Karma 2 on WordPress has been very effective for me. So far, it has killed 15K+ spams, and only one false positive (that I know of).

Email-wise: I honestly, and sadly, don’t think there is a solution. Spammers have won the email game.
