Stayin’ Alive

Wow, I’ve really not been blogging much lately. The reason/excuse: I’m crazy busy!

We have been doing some heavy last minute pre-pro, and just starting tweaking another song last night. We went until about 2:30a.m. on that one, and are going back in on it tonight! Part of what happened is that as we played the last batch of mixes, everyone got a better feel for the flow of the song and wanted to make a few minor changes.

The difficulty is that what is a minor change in practice might mean a couple of hours behind the computer to demo up. Then, once the goofy stuff is done, you have to re-record the guitars - and I often get mixed up on which arrangement we are on. It’s just a little time consuming, but I think it is worth it. One of the big advantages of having seven people in the band is you get a wide variety of input, and with us it seems people generally either have good ideas, or they just stay quiet. It’s a nice thing to actually enjoy hearing a band member make a suggestion, because you expect it to be productive - this isn’t the case in a lot of bands, believe me - I know!
