Pre-pro and renshu

Band things have been pretty busy since I’ve got back - Yasu and Manabu did quite a bit of pre-pro on “Mad Cherry”, and I think they did a very good job. We did just a little bit more yesterday, but it was mostly just me getting a chance to listen to what was done and think of some ideas. To be honest, all I could come up with were refinements based on what they had already done. I thought the riffs and arrangement were tight.

We’ve also had a couple of practices in prep for the sorta-big-but-not-as-much-as-I-once-thought Fukuoka gig. I’m not sure about the deal here, but it’s not a large event (in terms of venue size) based on my current understanding. Perhaps its a bigger deal in a different way, but those sorts of nuances are just the things I miss out on.

We did do a short video commercial for the event, basically one of those things were the bands pops up for 15 seconds or so to say “Hey, we are at this event, so come check us out.” The guys came up with a pretty nifty idea to add a twist to it, though - I’ll see if I can’t get a copy of the finished thing to post. I won’t ruin the nifty idea here.

We also got the flight info, so we are flying up on the 29th, play on the 30th, and return on the 31st - which is pretty much as expected. It looks like there are 2 days of Spice Records bands playing, we are on the second day with Heaven’s Hemp and All Japan Goith.
