Our new fridge was delivered today, the Sanyo SR-H401J.

This is a pretty sweet fridge, mainly because it’s cheap for the size, and has all the basic/mid-level features. We went to a couple of stores to look at the various models, and this was the best balance of size, features, and cost that we found. It’s also quite a bit larger than the one it replaces, so that’s a nice bonus!

We bought the thing from Yamada Denki, which knocked about $50 off the sticker price (which was already lower than a couple of other stores), and has free delivery. They also pick up the old fridge and dispose of it, but you have to pay the “recycle fee” for that. It’s still a good deal, because you have to pay the fee even if you arange for the city to come and pick it up, so you basically save yourself a small hassle. Good deal - if you are in the market in Okinawa, you should probably check these guys out.
