My other blog
It just occurred to me that I haven’t explicitly mentioned that I have another blog of sorts.
What it is - is that our band has a “diary” page, and everyone is supposed to have a day where they make a entry. (Since there are 7 of us in the band, this works out smooth…on paper.) Of course, everyone forgets and whatnot, but I’ve been fairly good at making my day, which is Saturday.
There’s two things to remember, one, this diary will go away eventually when the real fancy professional web site is done. What is up there now is done (and done well) by our drummer, Manabu.
And here’s the big one, number two, it’s all in Japanese. Yes, even my entry. And I do it all myself, not Tamitam. Which means if you know Japanese, it reads like a little kid that rides the short bus and probably doesn’t make sense to anyone. However, it’s good practice.
It’s quite different to try to write something like a diary, rather than conversation, because of the lack of the other party to “guide” you. Not that my writing on this page is crackling with excitement, but at least I can write about what I want. On the other hand, when Saturday rolls around (and that’s tommorrow!) and I need to do my abiroji diary entry, I’m much more constrained because I just don’t have the vocabulary to express myself. At least in a conversation I can often follow the jist of it, even if I don’t understand every word. You can’t really write the jist of something, though, can you? Every word counts a lot more.
