Tanjobi

Today is my birthday (tanjobi). Happy birthday to me.

Right now, I’m just waiting to go to practice - I guess we decided last night that pre-pro for the first CD was done, and now we need to work on the songs for the second. (Just a reminder of the current plan: we are going to release two EPs with 5 songs, and then a full CD with 15 or so songs, which may contain all the songs of the EPs, not sure about that.)

Tonight, I think we are going to work on a song that Yasu and Manabu had demo’ed up a couple of days ago. It’s kinda strange, because it’s sort of like a cover, except none of the music is the same at all, and only a few of the lyrics. It’s more a re-working than a cover, I guess.

Also, there’s another song I’ve been working on (and play parts of during sound check), and I think it’s going to make it - at least as far as us demo’ing it up for consideration.

We are also supposed to have some sort of meeting, which is my least favorite part of the deal - mainly because I never understand what the hell is going on, so it seems like a waste of time from my standpoint. I’m sure something positive is coming out of it, but it’s just a little frustrating to me. I gotta get back to studying the language.

Thanks Will! We had a band meeting last night with the engineer and I’ve got a couple of songs on the table that got favorable remarks, so I’m hoping on those.

If I could only get my re-worked version of “Women’s Prison” with the full orchestra, mouth-harp, and pipe organ recorded, I’m sure everyone would dig it. I’m talking solid gold #1 hit, baby!
