World’s Strongest Animal

The Mighty Rhino Bug!Last night at practice, we got into a discussion/argument over what the strongest animal in the world is. I don’t know why, but I think it was on a TV show that some of the guys had seen the night before or something.

Anyway, the point is I think it is the rhinoceros beetle, which can lift 850 times its own body weight. The Smithsonian agrees with me (or rather, that’s where I got my information from.) These things are also pitted against one another here for big-time gambling; they don’t fight to the death or anything like that, the first one flipped over loses.

However, some of the fellows keep insisting it’s the giraffe (kirin in Nihongo), because it has a kick that can supposedly kill an elephant or something like that.

Whatever. The point is beetles are cool as hell and giraffes suck.

Your right!!! Giraffes are for kids!!! Why else would Toys R’ Us use one for their cheesy mascot? They could of at least said that the ant was the strongest animal in the world. At least that would have been a decent game show answer.

Giraffe kicks elephant to death??? What the hell? I think the battle would go something like this.

    Giraffe kicks elephant.

Elephant feels nothing and turns his backside to the giraffe.

Giraffe feels uncomfortable with his masculinty and lowers his head to the ground.

Elephant remains in neutral chewing on ” ” = that which elephant eats

Giraffe raises his head unaware of the elephant’s ass directly above him and precede to lodge his head in elephants ass.

Elephant feel a slight stirring in his anal cavity and shrugs it off as just the side effects of eating ” ”

Giraffe then fails to remove its head and then suffocates in the elephants ass.

    THE END

    Will,

As always, your insights into the animal kingdom are both illuminating and without logical flaw. Given your detailed (and obviously based from first-hand sighting) account, I don’t see how anyone could continue to insist that the giraffe is a cool animal.

its actually the waterbear bug i think that’s what its called. its indestructable, it can make itself die in bad conditions and then make itself live again when things get better

“Water Bears” are Tardigrades, and you are right - they are well near indestructable, at least in terms of surviving temperature, dehydration and radiation.

    Pretty cool bug.
