I watched House of Flying Daggers today.

I like this genre of movies, mainly because of the scenery and the flying-around-fake-martial-arts. They just look cool. I like the heavy tragic drama too; the over-serious romances combined with the imagery makes a nice escape, but it’s not depressing because the whole thing seems so fantastic.

Plot-wise, the major thing I missed out on was seeing some sort of results on the big rebel-vs.-government battle at the end. Since this was a major point throughout the film, I wanted to get some idea of the outcome. That aside, good story with a couple of interesting twists.

I liked Hero and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon better, but still thought this was worth picking up.
