Still here, just busy

I didn’t want to go another day without some sort of entry, even though I’m too tired to write anything interesting. (Not that there is such a criteria or level of expectation here.)

The band proceeds onward. The release live event went very well and I thought all the bands put on a great show. I went both nights, on Saturday just to hang out and party a little. We are working on a couple of the new songs now, and rehearsing for the big Miyako live.

I wasted the entire practive time trying to get the Boss SP303 sampler Toshio has to play a sample by triggering it through MIDI. Right now, he has to touch a button with his hand, rather than just striking one of his electronic drum pads. Which kinda sucks, so I thought I would at least show a “proof-of-concept” by hooking the damn thing up to my computer, since I have the slick little Midisport USB 1×1 MIDI interface. I wasted damn near 3 hours…it’s not something I’ll be revisiting, but Manabu said he might take a shot at it.

The weather is warming up on Okinawa, and my electricity bill is rising. I wonder if I used my laptop battery up at home and only plugged it in at the office, would I save money?

    Jason,
In reply to your last question,… it would indeed save you money but there is the integrity price to think about. Being that you would be utilizing your employers electricity to charge something of personal value. Now if your laptop is powered by an african swallow then the amount of electricity would be so minute that it wouldn’t matter, but we all know that african swallows don’t migrate to Okinawa, or spit for that matter. I once met a navy guy whos name was Seaman Swallows… odd.

You are my brother an always will be. I hope things are going well with you and all is well here in America. I have a full plate of schooling through September and will sign up for more then. I will sign out of the Army on 27 December this year. Things look pretty good for a job in the food industry or washing cars on base for the car guys. I can’t wait.
Just letting you know that I am alive and trying to one-up-you by making contact first, being that neither of us are great at it.

Take care and please tell Tami-tam and the band that the soon to be civilian Clay said hello.
    Clay

    Clay,

Don’t think about the food industry or car washing jobs. It’s important to manage expectations and you don’t want to overreach and set yourself up for disappointment. Might I suggest something in the exciting field of vagrancy, or perhaps “fluffer”?

Seriously though, Dec. isn’t far away and it will be good to have you back on the Rock. See ya then!
