Halle Berry Kicks Ass

Not just because she’s incredibly beautiful, but also apparently an incredibly good sport. She showed up for her Razzie, “Worst Actress In A Leading Role” - one of 4 awarded for Catwoman.
Although I’m sure it’s not her fault the movie sucked - and, oh god, did it ever suck - it’s beyond cool she showed […]

Upgrading Blog…

WordPress 1.5 (”Strayhorn”) has been out for a little while now, and I’m trying to get upgraded. The basic stuff is done, I think, but there are lots of minor details still left to clean up.
I don’t know if I’ll be sticking with this default look either. Reminds me too much of the […]

Omnibus Song complete

We finished “Air Raid” last night/this morning. Personally, I think it kicks much ass, and I hope everyone who hears it does to.
I’m not sure when the Omnibus CD is released, or any of those details, but I’ll put them out once I know.
It’s back to work on the “real” CD now.

Okinawa Pictures

Travis J Morgan has up a lot of nice pictures from Okinawa, Japan. Sadly, the interface is one of those “look at my mad Flash skillz!” jobs, but it’s still worth checking out, especially the aquarium photos.
At one point, I had up a nice photo I took of a couples of sea turtles from […]

Saw saw

I saw Saw last night on DVD and it was good … I wish now I had caught it at the theater.
In this type of film, the main attractiveness to me is the ingenuity/personality of the killer. A well-developed and unusual villian goes a long way to making a good horror/thriller. Saw comes strong in […]

Zero Sen Omnibus Tune nearly Complete

Last night we went until about 4 am this morning, and we went until about 6 am the night before that working on the song for the omnibus CD. We have one more session scheduled Monday for any details and final mixing.
The name of the song is “Air Raid”. We’ve done some cool things, and […]

UMUC Classes

Well, right now I’m taking a few classes (3) at UMUC, and a couple of them would have better been avoided.
I’m waiting until I’ve wrapped up the classes to post a review, just on the way off-chance that one of the instructors wanders by here and puts it all together. However, you can best […]

Zero Sen Omnibus CD Song Progress

Another long night last night, although this one did wrap up at 3 am (verses the near 6 am last time!)
Manabu had taken the track home and mixed it a bit and did some arrangement that I thought worked really well. Yasu and Hideki came, and we got down all the wood bass parts. […]

Doom 3

I finally beat Doom 3 last night - it took a while because I could only grab a few minutes here and there during the week, and maybe and hour or two on the weekends.
This was a damn good game, and genuinely scary I thought. The sound effects were absolutely fantastic, and really made the […]

Long night recording lessons

Well, Manabu and I were out at Spice until about 5:30 in the morning working on recording the compilation song and we still didn’t finish it - although we did get the vast majority of it done!
Here are some of the things I learned:
1. Don’t put ice in one of those little cheap plastic bag-like […]

Carly Fiorina… “You’re Fired”

It warms my heart that Carly Fiorina was asked to leave HP.
Fiorina was a big-time advocate of outsourcing, and the Compaq/HP merge, both of which are/were terrible ideas. First off, Compaq has also been a piece of crap proprietary company, the absolute wrong choice for every reason if one is considering buying a computer. […]

Zero Sen on Omnibus CD

Zero Sen has been asked by Masa (ex-Jigokuguruma guitar) to participate in an “omnibus” (compilation) CD with several other Okinawan bands. We worked out the song last night, and will do some quick pre-pro on it over the weekend.
We have to record and deliver the song by the 21st or 22nd this month, so […]

Comment Spam WAY up

What’s going on out there in the “blog-o-sphere” internets lately? I’m seeing a big-time increase in comment spam, mostly from some t-i-g-e-r-s-p-i-c-e jackass, but just about all are online poker sites.
Fortunately, Spam Karma is still chugging along, and has only hit one false positive and missed about a half-dozed comment spams since installation - those […]

Teaching a vanity publisher a lesson…

After cleaning out a bit of the comment spam today, I got to thinking (once again) just how disappointing it is to have to deal with all the various scammers and con-artists out there.
There’s another type of scammer out there, the “vanity publisher” - be aware musicians, there are many similar scams preying on independent […]

Olate Competition Results

(Thought I posted this already, but seems to have never went through?)
The results of the Olate PHP Coding Competition are in, and yours truly got 4th out of four entries. Yep, that puts me dead last - but I’m OK with it, because it was fun, I learned a lot, and got a good discount […]

Bought a Dune book twice

I accidentally bought The Butlerian Jihad again, when I already had it. (I need The Battle of Corrin).
Anyone else read these Dune prequels? I’ve read the main Dune series twice, and the first prequel trilogy once (which I actually enjoyed quite a bit). So far, this second prequel trilogy is pretty […]
